Best fresh car deals 2017
September has arrived and with it the fresh ‘67’-registration plate, so if you want your car to have the latest plate for as long as possible, now’s the time to go car shopping.
The holidays are almost over but there’s still time to look for a fresh car before the school run starts again. Manufacturers are always antsy to sell you a fresh car and there are slew of superb deals out there.
We’ve scoured the Internet for the best bargains, not just looking at the manufacturers, but also online brokers who often suggest discounts you won’t get by visiting a dealer.
Sometimes it pays to visit a showroom to see what’s on suggest, as there may be stock that an individual dealer is keen to shift. Now that the fresh registration plate has arrived, dealers across the country will want to get rid of any pre-registered ’17-plate’ cars they have in stock, potentially selling them with big discounts.
Bear in mind that a pre-registered car is technically second-hand; yours won’t be the very first name on its registration document. Some of these cars may have only been driven off a transporter, however, and are fresh in most other senses of the word – albeit the warranty will have commenced as soon as it was very first registered.
So, if having the latest number plate isn’t essential to you, don’t be afraid to ask your dealer if there’s a pre-registered car in stock that might suit your needs. Any salesperson will expect you to haggle, too, and while that may sound an unappealing prospect, a few hints from our guides to buying a fresh car and negotiating a price will give you a little more confidence to secure the deal you’re looking for.
Our guide features the best Individual Contract Plan (PCP) and Hire Purchase (HP) offers, and you’re spoilt for choice if you’re paying with cash, too.
It’s also effortless to compare fresh, used and lease deals across all manufacturers on our sister site BuyaCar.co.uk.
Best fresh car deals – latest deals updated 01/09/2017
Alfa Romeo has introduced a ‘Test Me’ suggest on the Giulia which constitutes a £2,000 discount on top of the existing £750 deposit contribution. It’s valid on any model if the test drive is booked and the car is ordered before the end of September.
Dacia is now suggesting a five-year extended warranty as standard on all fresh Dacias purchased on a four-year PCP or HP scheme before the 30th September 2017. Upgrading to the extended warranty usually costs £395. Dacia will also contribute £1,000 and £500 to diesel and petrol Dusters respectively, leaving you with payments of £149 per month for the SUV over four years on a Ambiance SCe one hundred fifteen model.
The Jeep Renegade is presently available on a finance deal with a total of £3,000 off. Jeep will contribute £1,000 to the cost of the deposit and suggest an extra £2,000 when you take the car for a test drive. On a Longitude model with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, the Renegade works out at £289 per month over four years after a deposit of £1,000.
It’s not often that you find a top deal on a bona-fide sports car, but Nissan is suggesting its muscular 370Z for just £269 a month on a three-year PCP scheme. A 324bhp two-seat coupe isn’t exactly a budget buy, and you’ll need to place a deposit of £6,162, but Nissan will add another £3,000 to reach that low monthly payment figure. After three years, you then have the option of possessing the 370Z outright with a £12,299 final payment. You might also want to take advantage of three year’s servicing for a one-off payment of £199. It’s a remarkably accessible way to own a truly thrilling traditional sports coupe.
If you’re tempted to leave smog, noise and queuing up at the petrol pumps behind and make the switch to electrical driving, the BMW i3 is one of the most appealing battery-powered cars you can buy today. It looks futuristic and is superb to drive, but perhaps best of all is that you could drive one for £339 a month. Thanks to its zero-emissions rating, the i3 is eligible for a £4,500 government plug-in vehicle grant, and with BMW contributing a further £1,600, you need only place a £4,219 deposit to secure the car. After thirty six payments, an optional £11,533 payment makes the car yours to keep.
