Edge: Ford redid its mid-size SUV for 2015, moving it from the old to the current Fusion platform. It offers a choice of three engines. A twin-scroll Two.0-liter turbo four is closely related to Ford’s fresh Two.3-liter four and should make inbetween two hundred forty and two hundred fifty horsepower. Moving up to the naturally aspirated Three.5-liter V-6 brings three hundred five horses, and Sport versions will get a twin-turbo Two.7-liter V-6 with about three hundred twenty horsepower and three hundred seventy pound-feet. A utter complement of safety and convenience equipment will be available, including collision warning, active cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, automatic parking, and Ford’s fresh Adaptive Steering system [see Fresh Tech for 2015]. But for 2015, a fresh interior design promises greater convenience; fresh headlights and grille give the Expedition a fresh face; electronically adjustable shocks promise a better rail; and a Three.5-liter turbocharged V-6 is expected to produce three hundred seventy horsepower and four hundred thirty pound-feet of torque, up from three hundred sixty five horsepower and four hundred twenty pound-feet. F-series: Ford’s company within a company gets a big alloy overhaul this year, with a cab and bed made out of aluminum; the framework remains steel. F-series Super Duty: Diesel customers of Ford’s fattest equipments will be enthusiastically pulling tree stumps when they find that the optional turbo-diesel 6.7-liter V-8’s torque rises to eight hundred sixty pound-feet from 800. Concentrate/ST: Ford reshapes the Concentrate to conform to the rest of the lineup, providing it an Aston Martin–style grille, fresh headlights, and a fresh fetish mask. In back, the taillights have a fresh design. Interior switches are minor; there’s a fresh steering wheel and some fresh seat fabrics and trim. Thicker news is the smaller engine: Ford’s 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder engine is now available here. Collective with the Fiesta, the little three makes one hundred twenty three horsepower, and albeit EPA estimates are not yet available, the engine manages thirty one mpg city and forty three highway in the Fiesta. If so, here’s some news: An all-new Mustang is coming, and it promises to be a bit more refined and sophisticated than before. Three engines are available, however horsepower figures haven’t been finalized. At the top of the range is a slightly tweaked Five.0-liter V-8 that promises more than four hundred twenty horsepower. Rental-car desks are likely to have the keys to the Trio.7-liter V-6 with at least three hundred horsepower, and eventually a Two.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will produce a minimum of three hundred five horsepower. Power proceeds to be channeled to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Identically significant to the fresh four-banger is the fresh multilink, independent rear suspension. According to Ford, the objective was for the fresh Mustang to surpass the spectacular treating and track-ready nature of the now-defunct Boss 302. Transit: Ford’s fresh van eventually will substitute the prehistoric E-series.
