2017 Geneva Motor Demonstrate: Covering all bases
Geneva’s attraction for high net worth individuals has had a enormous influence on the nature of the annual motor display here, where high-end makes pull out all the stops with special edition and limited run sports and luxury cars. Add to the mix a number of exotic demonstrate cars from Italian design houses, and you have a demonstrate that has a decidedly upscale aura. The two thousand seventeen Geneva Motor Showcase will supply on that count, to be sure, but also there’s an ever enlargening number of smaller, and more affordable cars that combine the styling and utility of SUVs on car-based platforms that provide a more civilized treatment to everyday motoring. These more mass market entries will be on forearm in abundance.
The Geneva spotlight will fall on many familiar luxury and spectacle brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, McLaren and Porsche, to name but a few. Some have already exposed the starlets of their stands ahead of the display, the Ferrari eight hundred twelve Superfast, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante and the Mercedes-Benz E63S Wagon. Those waiting for the display itself for more formal launches include McLaren with its 650S replacement, the Range Rover Velar and Porsche’s facelift of the nine hundred eleven GT3. Among the much anticipated display cars from Italy will be the Pininfarina H600, a luxury electric-drive sedan that could see production and an Italdesign concept that will bow alongside a recently exposed limited run car from its Automobili Speciali division.
Crossover SUVs highlighted
At the other end of the spectrum, a host of petite cars and crossover SUVs are getting ready to bow. Of interest to the U.S. market are the Subaru XV Crosstrek replacement and the Mitsubishi Eclipse, a crossover that brings back the name of a fondly remembered sport coupe from the Japanese make. Other notable introductions include the fresh Citroën C3 Picasso, an intro that takes on fresh significance in light of PSA’s bid to buy Opel from General Motors and the French automaker’s plan to come back to the U.S. under the guise of a car sharing service.
Speaking of Opel, the brand will be demonstrating a fresh Insignia Sport Tourer, a wagon that is slated to be sold in the U.S. as a Buick. Also heralding fresh interest in the station wagon bod style will be Porsche’s sport wagon version of the Panamera.
In that space inbetween mainstream and luxury, two premium models debuting in Geneva are the Volvo XC60, a midsize crossover and the Volkswagen Arteon, which is a liftback that’s said to be the next generation of the CC sedan, which tops the German make’s passenger car range.
