Man rescued after car plunges off cliff in Plymouth

Updated: Jul 9, two thousand seventeen – Ten:Ten PM

PLYMOUTH, Mass. – A man is fortunate to be alive after his car drove off a cliff on the South Shore.

“He commenced taking a turn and then flipped right over the edge,» said Karl Abele.

That missed turn sent the car and driver down an embankment along Strand Avenue. It would have been a more than a ninety foot drop onto the beach below, but gratefully, the car didn’t slide all the way down, but was dangling precariously.

“He was entirely upside down when we spotted him and he didn’t stir for at least five minutes,» said Abele.

Abele and another neighbor, an off-duty firefighter, eyed it happen and rushed to help.

“We went down, it embarked to smoke and we attempted to get him to turn off the car, but I broke out the rear windshield and he eventually snuck out the back and seemed dazed and confused, but OK,» said Abele.

The driver was rushed to the hospital. The car leisurely, but surely was pulled from the embankment.

“I’ve never seen that happen, I’ve been here for forty years,» said Abele.

Police are investigating. There is no word on the driver’s condition.

PLYMOUTH, Mass. – A man is fortunate to be alive after his car drove off a cliff on the South Shore.

“He embarked taking a turn and then spinned right over the edge,» said Karl Abele.

That missed turn sent the car and driver down an embankment along Strand Avenue. It would have been a more than a ninety foot drop onto the beach below, but gratefully, the car didn’t slide all the way down, but was dangling precariously.

“He was downright upside down when we spotted him and he didn’t budge for at least five minutes,» said Abele.

Abele and another neighbor, an off-duty firefighter, eyed it happen and rushed to help.

“We went down, it commenced to smoke and we attempted to get him to turn off the car, but I broke out the rear windshield and he eventually snuck out the back and seemed dazed and confused, but OK,» said Abele.
