Richie Porte Crash Updates: Starlet posts movie from hospital bed, Geraint Thomas also out
Richie Porte has held a brief interview from his hospital bed regarding his Tour de France crash on Sunday.
Porte fractured his hip and collarbone in the descent of Mont du Talk.
And he had mixed feelings about the incident when talking to BMC Racing`s media team.
«It`s a big frustration. I was in excellent form, the team was very strong around me. It`s very disappointing,» he said.
«I`ve just seen the crash. I`m very fortunate I`ve come away with the injuries that I have.
«I recall I came into the corner, it wasn`t like we were going too prompt or anything like that. I just reminisce I locked the back wheel up and that was it. The next thing I was heading for the grass brink on the corner and I stayed conscious the entire time, I recall the entire thing.
«Thank you to the medical staff from the race and also the hospital. They`ve been absolutely fantastic.
«I don`t think I`ll be back on my bike for a good while now. The team says just recover, there`s no rush to come back. Hopefully I`ll pull the BMC jersey on before the end of the year.
«Social media you see the good and the bad. it`s overwhelmingly good. people are supportive and truly do care. I can`t say thank you enough to all of those people. It means the world to be so thank you very much.»

Race doctor Florence Pommery added: “He was conscious, it’s reassuring, he is being transferred to the hospital.»
Porte`s bike sprang out from underneath him after he cut into a arch while descending Mont du Talk outside Lyon.
He fell forward head very first onto the road and then went into the wall on the opposite side of the tarmac, colliding with Martin.
He was put in a neck brace by medical officials, while Martin, who got up from the incident, crashed again shortly after.
Porte was Chris Froome`s main challenger for the Tour this year.
